Credit Cards Shared Limit 💳

?Anonymous posted 07 Feb 2025

My most used cards have shared limit, and it has been a mess to track those records.

As people with credit cards are increasing and many of them might be holding multiple credit cards with shared limit. This feature would be really appreciated

Abel Thomas Hmm... I was not aware of that. Thanks letting me know.

This is very much needed. Consider this scenario. I have 3 credit cards with a bank. The credit limit is shared between all the 3 cards. Card 1 and Card 2 are billed together. Card 3 is billed separately. Even though the billing aspect can be managed, shared credit limit tracking is a must have.

Akshit Verma shared credit card limit is the one which bank issues a common credit limit to two different types of cards. If you are having a rupay card and Visa card both cards will have a common shared limit, it does not mean sharing limit with someone else

how do you suggest to make a feature like that? I mean, how can you track the spending of someone else, with whom you are sharing your credit limit.

Under current circumstances, the best solution would be to just regularly check your credit transactions or make sure that any transaction made is informed to you so that you can record it in the app

@akshitverma not by someone else but by our family members only, to whom we have provided add on credit card having shared limit with our primary card. All these add on cards have separate card number, bills are generated separately. For example, if I have a primary card having credit limit of ₹1L with two add on cards with shared limit that means, each of them has the limit of ₹1L subject to total limit of ₹1L. A simple illustration is attached herewith.

This is much needed feature. The banks like ICICI, and Axis are providing shared limits. Since these are major card providers and a lot of users are there. This could be a boon to the users

@durgadattc Thanks for the illustration. I understand the concept but I still have the same question. If you give a credit card, with shared limit, to a family member. How do you track their expenses? Even if a feature is added where you can combine two credit cards to have a shared limit so that any transaction is any one of them would affect the shared limit. Even then, you would have to manually add all the transactions the other person makes regularly. If you are thinking of something like this then that is possible to implement.

@akshitverma I have ICICI credit card and two add on cards with shared limit and I myself use all the three cards. One is Amazon Pay, second is Make My Trip and third one is Rupay. These three cards give specific benefits for different uses. Therefore shared limit feature is quite useful for users like me. Those who don't need this feature are absolutely not compelled to use it!

@durgadattc okay... Now it makes sense. Thanks for the explanation. It does seem that this can be pretty useful.
