This I believe is a subscription handling feature at the moment so why not have a reminder on the scheduled transactions one day before or something such that it we want to cancel with the subscription we can do that

Excellent, allows the subscriber to review purchase, and cancel before money comes out of account. It is too late to get a refund after you realise this has happened, when automated payment comes out.
I personally do scheduled transactions with $0 payment and "reminders" tag for this type of thing.
But after reading it again, an option for a separate reminder date/time in an actual recurring expense would be useful/simpler.
I too agree on this point specially ecs activities date
