Avinash Kadgave how to do that can you explain i cant understand
When I show transaction report. We can't show actual category. I show only other category in every income and expenses transaction
Yes, I'm expecting subcategory features. Also, Investments Account as separate Account category
Amit MohanMohan Bro plz add subcategories and goals (saving + expense)
Yup...required amit...
This function is very useful. For example there is a category called food and dinning. This is helps us to know that how much we have spend on food. But it doesn't explain how much I have spend on eating out.
I have attached the an screenshot for an example.
Amit Mohan any plans to release new features
Add subcategorie its very usefull.
Amit Mohan
Add sub categories so that expenses can be further classified rather than numerous category creation makes it more clumsy. It is more effective to create Main category and subcategories which enable as to properly review the transactions more clearly.
Instead of approaching it like main & sub category - we would record the expense into the current categories (which will essentially be sub-categories) but we can make a group of these categories and group itself will be a main category. e.g. right now I have snacks breakfast meals as categories... I would create a group as food to include all these. I don't want to enter food->breakfast as category everytime I record an expense. I only want to enter breakfast and then it will automatically be counted in food as well. I can even go futher up and include food in one more group as well like fixed expenses.
It's also required to devide our budget main three section like NEED, WANT, and SAVING and Sub Category maintain under it.

Thanks for the feedback Gopal! I'll keep this in mind :)
Yes using tags, but it's an indirect method and takes many steps for access and also classification
Amit Mohan it becomes very complicated to keep track and do analysis. A sub-category feature would streamline it.
Amit Mohan
Please make this possible 🙏
Because it is a core feature for tracking and analyzing expenses.
We have similar requests for this
Amit Mohan
Because of unlimited categories we create many categories but looking at them separately in analyze section doesn't makes sense.
Having a sub categories under main category will help us to calculate cumulative expense.
For example: main category is food expenses. And its sub category is breakfast, lunch, dinner. (This is a simple example)
Note : 1)By looking at pie chart in analysis we should get to know total spends for main categories, 2)plus if we expand main category then we should see sub categories as per individual spend. 3)And pie chart also should be updated accordingly as per the staus of drop down
This is way more convenient compared to using tags, for calculating and analyzing expenses in analysis section instead of looking it separately (like tags).
I told this an year ago till now they didn't responded & I'm very unhappy with premium purchase blindly
Yes, this is very much needed.
I have two vehicles and i track their fuel.
The issue is I have to manually calculate, how much i spent on fuel on each individual vehicle.
If we get an option of sub category, then i can easily track my overall fuel expenses plus how much I am spending individually on each vehicle.
Sujal Show: Have you tried using tags for this purpose? Tags feature is created for handling these scenarios only.
You can learn more about tags here: https://expensesmanager.in/help/tags
Let me know if you need any help.
Yes, I have used it but the issue with tags as feature has its own problems.
Problem 1: While recording an expense I open my category tab and search for it and there are also few categories that I use in less frequency but because of the drop down option I can choose my category with ease.
Compare that to tags, I can only see my 3 most/latest used tags. It adds an additional task to my memory and I often forget about few tags I have created. That leads to creation of multiple tags with same utility at times (ex: current, electricity)
There are certain expenses which I make quite regularly, like I having tea outside is a regular, so I generally don't forget to add 'tea' tag but at times I forget I have created a tag for my 'second' vehicle or a tag for my 'haircut'.
I go to a haircit for 12 times in a span of a year, creating a category for it will not be suitable, so when I decide to use a tag it feels overwhelming and mostly forgetable.
The visibility of tags is an issue here.
Problem 2: Even on an analysis basis, I can easily analyse categories in the main section. For tags, I have to open each tag.
Yes, it gives freedom and expands more usags of this feature but its tiring too.
It should be more like an extension to categories, and easier to analyse along side categories.
Problem 3: Its more like a question, Why are we not allowed to use space and capital letters while naming our tags?
Maybe the intention of tags was to keep it flexible and it has its unique way to be used with multiple catgories. A transaction can be paired with multiple tags and a category is not acting as a restriction in this case.
Even though it has its own flexibility: if you simply study its usage, that almost never happens. Adding no major value to the user.
Conclusion: Tags as a feature simply takes more effort and provides practically lesser value.
A simple category and sub categories (3-5 sub-categories) option would be easier, smoother to use and will improve our analysis experience too.
Maintaining our expenses is a 5 mins task for everyone in a day, so an expense tracking app should priortize a fast, simple and direct solution to this need.
Tags as a feature is unnecessarily complex and too much pain.
Thank you!
Hi everyone, Thank you so much for sharing your feedback and suggestions related to the Sub-Category feature.
I wanted to let you know that this feature is now actively being explored and planned. Our goal is to make sure it improves budgeting and tracking without adding complexity to the app.
While we plan this feature, any feedback, suggestions, or edge cases you want us to consider are highly welcome - this is the perfect time to influence the feature before it’s finalized.
Thanks again for helping shape the app ♥
@Amit mohan, this is now more than 7 months, can you let us know the release date of this subcategory feature? Even though I am premium member, I am not able to use Expenses manager until this feature is available, thank you Gopal
Hey how long take... Waiting more than year
When other paid apps are providing subcategory, why not you? Pls add this feature asap.
@amitmohan When we can expect this feature? It will good if we get before new year 2026.
Need to add subcategory it's useful money tracking
Will be much better.
Any update on this?
Any update on this?
I also want this feature all other apps use this feature also here we want
Must have . Sub category is easier to filter and check my expenses clearly
Add sub categories so that expenses can be further classified and more organized
I would like to request the addition of a subcategory feature for expense tracking. Currently, I have to create separate categories for related expenses (e.g., separate categories for breakfast, snacks, and dinner). With the subcategory feature, I should be able to organize these under a single parent category called "Food" with subcategories for breakfast, snacks, and dinner. This would provide better organization and more intuitive expense management.Additionally, I would like budget-setting functionality to be implemented at both the category and subcategory levels. This would allow me to:Set an overall budget for the main category (e.g., Food: ₹500.00/month)Set individual budgets for each subcategory (e.g., Breakfast: ₹150.00, Snacks: ₹100.00, Dinner: ₹250.00). This hierarchical structure would enable more granular expense tracking and budget control.
You should delete this post. There is already a post about this and it is under review.
I have raised another request about adding additional fields in to the entry screen, I think this will help for all other reporting requirements, example we can input Vendor name, can assign name for whom the amount spent etc, also the field should be configurable and should be flexible to configure as drop-down or free text etc.
Good that it is considered along with subcategory feature and deliver quickly as it pending since a year
Please add sub categories so we can diversify our expense and income also
If sub category is added more clear reports will be helpful.
Yes, this is a much missed feature
Team, Can we have an option to set default Tags for some Categories.
So that every time I don't need to set it
So the sub categories can be done by Tags itself
